Food Technology

Food Technology is a very popular subject at Ripley Court. From Years 2 upwards, pupils are taught by a specialist Food Technology teacher, whilst younger children use the food technology room with their class teachers. 

The facilities were designed with fixed and mobile stations. A wide range of equipment means that we can focus on learning all the skills needed to cook and eat healthily for life.

We cook in every lesson and the children are taught how to make their products look appealing and taste good.  We use a selection of sweet and savoury recipes and stress the importance on limiting sweet treats and encourage healthy home-made snacks instead.

We also learn about nutrients, the function of ingredients in recipes, sustainability, and food miles.
